The “Haus der Berge” forms a harmonious triad consisting of an information center, an educational center, and outdoor grounds. All three areas are thematically interconnected, thereby facilitating both cognitive and emotional learning.

The mission of the “Haus der Berge” is to educate visitors about the various aspects of sustainable stewardship of nature and to inspire a passion for the national park. Spread across two floors, it offers more than “just” information. The information center features a foyer with all the essential information about the national park, the Berchtesgadener Land Biosphere Reserve, and alpine networks. In addition to the permanent exhibition “Vertical Wilderness,” you’ll find special and rotating exhibitions on various topics, a cinema and library, dining options themed “A Culinary Journey Through the Region,” and a seminar and conference room. The “House of Mountains” experience begins in the foyer. The exhibition provides an initial overview of the national park and sets the stage for the upcoming themes. It explains the Berchtesgaden National Park and its significance within national and international networks.
